Welcome.

On 6th April 2007 a very small piece of lawn was dug up, and a raised bed was made. It was sown with a few rows of vegetables. Late in 2009 we gained an half an allotment (plot 54B). What happens next??

Lupins

In the middle of June there was an amazing show of Lupins on John's plot:

A June round-up

June seems to have sped by, so it's time to do a quick summary of things no hither to recorded.

Looking back to the start of June it's almost impossible to believe how fast things grow.

Here for example is a three week separation in growth on the pottager plot:

8th June -
8th June
and 30th June -
Andrew and the Sunflowers

(Yes that is a real son not a six feet five scarecrow).

Talking of scarecrows, strange visitors were spotted up the posh end of the allotments:

Sunshine and Rain

Over the last two weeks we have had the extremes of weather. To start off with a prolonged hot and dry spell. Water and sunscreen were both needed. It did mean three long sessions on consecutive days weeding, tidying and getting everything back in order again.

After this, the rain came as we returned to work: heavy and prolonged over a number of days. We didn't get the chance to spend any time weeding, but have harvested the first broad beans (yumm) and a few strawberries that didn't make it off the plot!

Arlington Court

Just having a short break in North Devon, and after a hard day's walking popped into Arlington Court (NT). Their allotment is somewhat bigger and with fewer weeds!

Latest weather observations.
